A brief window of opportunity
In the Drôme region of south-east France, a few families run organic farms up to 1,200 m above sea level. Wild harvesting of the precious linden blossoms is permitted in the valleys, so once a year, entire families, from grandparents to grandchildren, head down into the valley to help out with the harvest. After all, there’s some time pressure: the window for the perfect harvest is just one to three days. The flower heads must be picked just before the peak, but before the tree ovary develops. Only then will the linden blossom reveal its fine, delicate aroma in tea.
Lasting partnerships
Kennel has specialised in organic products for over a quarter of a century and procures its linden blossoms from long-standing partners in the Drôme region of France. Since our partnership began in the early ’90s, several valleys have been successfully certified as organic production areas. A joint success that benefits organic farmers and consumers alike with high-quality products.

Care and quality
Carefully picked by hand, the fresh blossoms are separated from any remaining leaves or twigs and placed in airing rooms to dry. The organic farmers then carefully pack the linden blossoms into the delivery boxes to send to us. The premium-quality blossoms must meet strict Bio Suisse requirements, which means every single tree is registered and monitored. When they arrive at Kennel, our experienced team sort through the blossoms once again before they are portioned out for tea blends or supplied to our partners. After all that, it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy a nice cup of organic tea.
